Spotlight on Silk Sashes from White Aisle

I am consumed by sumptuous fabrics and anything custom-made {remember my Bonzie wrap?} and I have been eyeballing these silk sashes for quite some time. Offered by The White Aisle {from which I get beautiful letterpress thank you cards}, these silk dress sashes are handmade by victims of sex trafficking in Cambodia. In an effort to help the young ladies move forward in their lives, White Aisle sends 100% of the profit back to Phnom Penh. This assists in paying salaries to the girls who work in the day care center and also towards the eventual expansion of the facility to provide full time housing--especially important so the women no longer have to go to the brothels in the evenings. Even better, the ladies are able to learn a new skill and along with that new skill, a feeling of empowerment that they are moving forward and changing their lives, in spite of the circumstances.

The custom made silk sashes can be used for any occasion--special or every day. Luxe up your daily blue jeans by wearing the sash as a belt. Add a pop of color to your bridemaids gowns by tying the sash in a neat bow around the waist. Or you can use the sashes for hand-tied bouquets or as adornment for your flower girl dresses. The fabric is hand loomed Khmer silk and you can purchase a long sash {110 inches} or a short sash {80 inches}. The color options abound with choices in ivory, chocolate brown, sage, gold, peacock blue, mauve, baby pink and antique pink. I personally like the sage, peocock blue and gold. Can't you just see them on a sleek, black cocktail dress or bridesmaid gown? Swoon! The girls also hand-make silk flowers in matching fabric if you want to add a little more embellishment. A brooch or crystal pin would look just as gorge--which White Aisle happens to sell, too.

So scoot on over to the White Aisle to add something fun and fabulous to your daily wardrobe or your wedding wardrobe and simultaneously support a worthy cause. Now that's fashion you can believe in!
